We are intially staying with a friend of a friend in South Yarra for a few weeks before heading off and doing some travelling for a couple of months. During that time we'll drive around the bay and see which towns we like. We definately want to live by the bay as we are from Brighton in the UK. We like St Kilda area because it's like Brighton but also like Williamstown but have been looking at Altona on the internet as we could rent a house there. What we might do is spend initial 6 months in St Kilda and then take our time to look for something bigger - depends on how many visitors we are likely to get!

Don't forget to let us know which flight you are on! There is a chap from Britvics who is flying out the day after us to Singapore for a stopover so said we would meet up. Are you going straight to Mel or having a stopover?

See ya
Kim
Hi Kim

We're heading straight out. We have a 6 month old baby and took him out when he was 3-4 months - coped very well with the whole flight, just his jet lag for the week afterwards wasn't quite so easy!

My Great Aunt lives in Altona - stayed with her on our Reccie. It is a really good suburb, on the beach with shops and park very local. Right on the train line as well. Only we're looking for a 4 bedroom house & the prices are a bit too steep for us, so Altona Meadows is 5 mins down the road from there. Not quite so picturesque but much more affordable. Have a very good school friend who lives in St Kilda and loves it. Renting at the mo but unfortunately he can't afford to buy there. Seems to be a very good base though as loads of tram routes right at your door step.

Did you do a reccie or are you braving the move?

I'll PM you our flight details and mobile number so we can maybe meet up in the airport before the flight.

Ben
