This is not exactly my area, but I think there are quite a lot of government departments using Oracle. Others will be able to advise on specifics for e business suite.

Yes Oracle is quite big in Qld government. Not so sure about eBusiness suite - I don't even know what it is these days....Oracle ebusiness suite peoplesoft siebel JDE fusion summink!

I've worked for Oracle and an SAP consultancy and I always got the impression that Melbourne was also more of an 'Oracle town'.

In my experience recently looking for work, recruiters wanted me to go to Sydney or Melbourne. They had a lot more opportunities for me there. That maybe just my skillset though.

Also if you like spending most of your free time in the dark then go to Brisbane!

They don't have daylight saving and from what I understand even in summer it is going dark around 7pm.

I quite fancied the warmer weather that Brisbane offers but this really put me off.

Possibly worth considering?

This is true and a bit of a pain in the ass. I could play golf every evening if I had an extra hour!

I think the mrs would wrap an iron around my neck if I got up at 5am to play golf. That's apart from the fact that it's too bloody early. Whenever I have to get up at 5am for work it damn near kills me.

looking for a peaceful life with daughter and dad. good education for her. warm climate. (i mean prefer the one with the warmer one) . as for jobs i am in to oracle, but willing to do anything that will help me to manage my family. parks, beaches would be nice. i am not in to night life, so that wouldnt matter.
I would definitely choose Melbourne, I am just starting plans to move there in the middle of next year with my family. Dont worry about the accomodation problem, renting is much more common that buying in Australia in general so there should be a lot of choice, and with many expats who are likely to be in similar situations it shouldn't be too difficult to find somewhere pretty swiftly.

This is not entirely true, it seems to be more common among new ex-pats at the moment though.

I think it depends on many things. It's all about demand and supply. Yes, I think most agents/landlord ask for bank statements and or payslips etc, but not necessarily.

Many find renting before finding jobs too. Usually (among other docs) they have to show that there is money in the bank though.

In my case, I didn't show any bank statements and I dont have a job yet and found a nice 3 bedroom house before even landing in OZ! Will be there in 4 weeks. But as I said, this is in QLD and 30km out of CBD, so the demand there is lower compared to places closer to VIC/QLD CBD....

Cheers

You will probably need to show that you have savings to support yourself to get a rental without a job. Your other option is to let short term accomodation but this will typically be 50% to 100% more than a long term lease.

Buying is around 70%, similar to UK.
