To the OP - we live in Mordialloc, 45 min drive to the city, about the same on the train. 1.2 mill here will buy you a nice house within walking distance of the sea, probably not a sea view unless you settle for an apartment. It's a lovely suburb and we like it very much.

Buzzy, l actually think some of the best beaches and most scenic coastline in Australia are outside Melbounre and in counry Victoria and l go swimming in them all the time, but l don't think most of the beaches in suburban Melbounre are very good. From what l heard the beaches way out on the edge of Melbounre like the Mornington Peninsular and out whre you live are good but the beaches closer to Melbounre arent that great.
