Default Medicals - glad I'm giong to OZ and not NZ!!

Had our medicals yesterday and our doc was telling us that NZ immigration are changing the medical criteria in the very near future - the cahnges include mental competency tests for those over 65, lots more blood tests than those already requested, internal examinations for females over the age of 35 and rectal examinations for all those age 15 or over!!! :scared: -- he also said that for medical conditions youve had in the past you will have to go and see a specialist -- he said that for a normal medical examination like we had yesterday for 2 adults and 2 children which cost us £450 that same family will be looking to pay £1,000 -- and thats without any " specialists" -- feel sorry for anyone embarking on the NZ route - as some of those procedures are very invasive -- he did say he'd complained to the GMC about it but they have no jurisdiction over NZ immigration regulations -- lets hope there is a change of heart somewhere along the line -- would not like to put a young son or daughter through such a thing!!

well that's a big change. When we went for our oz medicals in 2002, NZ didn't even do HIV tests (or so the Dr told me).
