Re: Medicals and diabetes
Well, I said I would let you know how it all went!
Sad to say not as great as I thought it would.
Despite taking a letter from my Consultant Diabetologist and a HBA1C reading of 5.9%, I am being sent for more blood tests. They want kidney tests and others that I have never even heard of.
Is this the norm?????
The waiting game just goes on!!

I wouldn't mind but apart from initial onset at 15 J has never been hospitalised due to his condition and ideally I think that perhaps some pre warning that these tests need to be done before medicals when you have a condition like diabetes would help alleviate the delays.
Good luck to you

Hi Nette
Stop worrying Im also type 1 diabetic and passed all the checks, moving to brisbane in a couple of months, my levels were also a little high(Worrying too much at the time) but its not going to stop you getting your dream as long as you are healthy and no related Illnesses, I had to go for further checks to a specialist diabetic consultant (at my cost again) he checks your blood pressure, feet, eyes, I know it sound funny but he then connected me to a computer which checks your heart and curculation and a few other things that i can't spell, and lets him know if you are prone to heart attack, or stroke over the next 10 years, all was fine in fact he said I was healthier than some people with out diabetes, so good luck and just stop WORRYING..

Congratulations on your visa. Bet your well pleased.
I know its extra stressful for those with medical conditions. I have kids with medical issues so know how much you can stress.
Glad it all worked out in the end
