Default Medicals - Costs in Ireland? Waiting period etc?

Hi Folks,

Any irish members here? Can anyone let me know how long it takes to organise the medical, i.e. long waiting lists etc. and what was the cost?

I want to front load my application for the spouse visa, so I presume that as I don't have a case number yet, the match the medical to my passport number when my aplication arrives in London.

Any help with the above greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

D.

Unfortunetly in Ireland you need to do the medicals twice.
This seemingly is just so they can be sure to be sure.

Welcome to the site though & best of luck with the application.

Hi again D.
When you've had your meds done, you get them sent straight in to DIMA. They then put them in a file with a number and your name and they're valid for a year from the date you get them done, so get them done first. Then they await your application.
When you send in your application, all front loaded like you mention, plus passport, you say what your medical number was (Usually the mailing tracking number or at least it was in my case, from the envelope) on that application, (I used a spare sheet of paper as it wasn't mentioned on the paperwork) and they match it up as soon as they get it.

The spouse visa is a breeze frankly and it's usually through in a week or two, depending on how busy they are. I was also very anxious about it, but there's no need. You've got plenty of genuine history and you'll get a nice letter through saying 'Welcome to Australia' before you know it.

Well,

Did the medical today. Medical was €125 and x-ray €85.
Doc said that Medical was fine, BP a little elevated, but within normal range. He put it down to surgery nervousness. Will know next week about the results of the chest x-ray and blood test, but I would be confident that they will be ok.
Once I get the police clearance from Aus back (I spent a few years there on a 457 previously), and 888's from friends over there, I can get the rest of the spouse visa application in. Man o man is there paperwork!

Hi Shirls.

Yeah, I had the medical done in Northbrook in Donnybrook, and the x-ray in the Blackrock Clinic, both were the closest to me. I was in at Northbrook at 10, and left Blackrock at 11 it was that quick, and I only booked on Tuesday! I didn't even check around for prices, time was of the essence!
