Default Medical Insurer + Dental

Medicare Private / MBF / HBF or..........[/font]

We as a family have been here now for 2 weeks and have sorted out quite a lot since being hear. Have signed up to Medicare, however dilemma.........daughter was diagnosed with needing braces prior to moving from the UK. Taking into consideration the need for Ambulance cover as I have heard of the potential costs if you haven’t got it. Can anybody recommend a suitable insurer as I anticipate the cost of an orthodontist will be approx $7k total payable in monthly instalments? Any feedback would be welcome

What State are you in? Ambulance cover in all states and Territories apart from QLD is generally a separate cover. In QLD it's covered in the leccy bill. Some health policies will insist on 12 months cover before claiming for anything, however they do sometimes do specials where the time is dropped to a couple of months or even wiped completely for some claims.

Hi there, which state are you in? This relates to Ambulance cover. Queensland it is levied through your electricity bill () and other states (I think ) but def Victoria you pay the ambos concerned, not via insurance cover.

Not sure how much private insurance will help with orthodontist, I don't think it covers much but I'm sure someone else will answer that for you.

Ambo cover is easily done stand alone and not very expensive.

"Good" dental cover is whole different matter. There is a website iselect.com.au where you can compare. I think its pretty safe to say, even with top table cover, you are in for a large bill for orthodontic work; no insurer I've come across has high levels of benefit fot his work.
