I got my MCSE in windows 2000 NT and I am as thick as owt!!!! There was, and always will be, mock exams etc online to aid exam passes.
I never followed it up and thus I have no clue now about what I learnt. My colleague however followed it up with CISCO quals and is now a very successful BT network engineer/manager. It is an individual thing and there are some who can use the 'paper qual' to gain a foothold and go on to be a fantastic asset to the industry.

oh dear......lets just say one thing...those who have studied, paid and earned their MCSE's should get recognition for that and not derided....it still has a place in the IT environment especially for those whose companies employ the MS net framework. I would think that your comment is far more patronising to those who have genuinely achieved their skills and you should keep your personal rebukes to yourself! No smily, no semi acquiesence, just plain response to a tossers answer!!!!

I'm entitled to my opinion which is solely based on my own experiences in the IT industry. If you don't like it then I'm easily ignored. Everything you said in the first sentence in your previous post now all fits into place.

And what on earth are you on about "MS net framework"??? Last time I checked my MCSE had no dependency on this skillset. You just go to show that anyone can get an MCSE......and to use your own words..... "tosser".

Ah, see that's a different story. If you have specifically trained for the exams and not taken them then that doesn't sound right.

As an employer, unless the circumstances warranted you not taking the exams after the training, I would look at that as a hint at the persons inability to follow through and deliver. My advice would be not to even include it on your CV unless you have completed the exams or at least state that you plan to take the exams in the next month or so.

Just my personal opinion, but I do have some experience at vetting candidates for my own and other companies.

It's amazing how much tension the certification vs experience can cause.

Personally, I have my MCSE and a bunch of other certs + 12 years experience working for a varied number of organisations. My issue is with people who simply feel IT is a good area to work in so I will get a job in it. Often people like this cause so many issues within organisations. I am a senior IT professional for one of the worlds largest companies and I see this first hand every day.

It's sad but true.

To the OP, I wish you the best of luck, but if you want to come here on the basis of skills in IT. I hope you really want to make a go of it in the industry.

NT4 and 2000 are different and as NT was in the beginning, there were NO mock exams around. There could have been later on but when my hubby took it there wasn't. Anyway to me its irrelevant as we are here and hubby is in a very good IT job having not updated again since 2003. We were told but our agent at the time that ACS prefered NT4 as they were harder to pass because of this very reason. Of course they could be wrong and I am not going to fight about it, just adding my two pence worth to a valid comment made by a previous poster.

"Lets hope your IT skills are better than you're poorly constructed, semi-patronsing responses. "

That was the bit I didn't like, I thought it was disrespectful and rude. There was no need for such a pompous reply.

At this level, I find that the low end infrastructure (MCSE or no MCSE) jobs are often amongst the lower paid jobs in IT.
