Hi there cant I say what its like there now but when we stopped there for the day a few years ago while on a trip to Oz it struck me a very non touristy what some may call red neck.
Its hard to get a feel for a place in such a short time and this is just how we felt but it didnt strike me as a place Id like to stay too long, but we never looked at important issues like schools, jobs and all the other things you have to take into consideration when looking to live somwhere. But on face value it was a bit out of the way, with not too many shops but was pretty friendly and relaxed. Good luck with it all and I hope someone will be able to give you a bigger picture of the place. Hugs Matilda xx

Maryboroughs been asked about a few times recently, Look for the search feature at the top of the screen, type in Maryborough and it will show all the posts on it.

Strange.

Its a small country town and house prices are exceedingly cheap. But has a high unemployment rate as has much of the area around there, hervey bay is similar thing, what job will you want there? can you make your own employment? then it may be a good choice for someone looking for a quiet country life. Its around 3 hours drive from brisbane.

After a lot of research into Maryborough we have decided its not the place for us. We are now focusing on our second choice which is Adelaide. So thank you all for your help & the links, they were much appreciated & helped make our decision for us.
