Thought this is good to show just just how big Australia is. Might help someone get their head around the size of the place.

"Great. When are you arriving in Melbourne?"
"Err..I'm getting in to Sydney".
The inference is that a) You can pick them up b) They'll jump on the bus.

A friend of our asked hubby for advice about his plans for his holiday in Aus. Got the map out and said "flying into Perth, collecting the car, driving to Adelaide and then Melbourne, leaving the car and flying up to Darwin, collecting another car, driving to Uluru and then across to Brisbane, drive down to Sydney and flying home from there" Bloody hell says hubby, how long you going for? THREE WEEKS came the answer :scared: Didn't believe hubby when he explained just how long that trip would take

In fairness he hadn't worked out distances, just looked at the map in an atlas - He thought Perth to Adelaide would take about three hours

Another perspective is that I'm going to drive around the outside and a bit in the middle and I'm estimating 27,000km
Of course that doesn't include detours for getting lost.

Doesn't look as far now to travel from Melbourne to Perth - after my London to Athens trip.

Thanks for that, I've attached the only one I had before and that astounds people when they see it.
