luggage and validating visa
we are going to validate visa's in may, as house sale fallen through, going to fly with singapore airlines, will we loose the 40kg allowance when we fly (to validate visa ) , or do you only get the 40kg when you book a one way ticket ?

yep, you only the the 40kg baggage on a special one-way fare called a migrant fare. so on your validation flights (return flights), you will only get the normal 20kg each.

In addition, you only get the migration baggage allowance of 40kgs provided you have not previously travelled on that visa.
I believe (from Singapore airlines and others) that our vaildation trip last Nov/Dec now means we cannot claim the migration allowance as this will not be the first time we have travelled on our PR visa.
They have agreed to give us an extra 10kgs each though as a goodwill gesture.
My husband is going to be thrilled to carry 60kgs of luggage plus hand luggage!!
