Default long term rentals in perth

Hi everyone, can anyone tell me if long term rentals in perth are easy to find..when we get there, hopefully by next July, we will rent short term whilst we make our minds up on a certain area. We have no house to sell here, so will be renting for sometime. Also reading the thread regards First Time Buyers Grant...is this only available in Queensland or Perth too?? and do we have to have been resident for 2 years before we can apply for a mortgage in Perth? ANY help much appreciated, sorry for all the questions so early in the day . xx

Hi Dawn

The FTB grant is available for all FTB regardless of where you are in Oz. Also, you dont need to be in Oz for 2 years to get a mortgage, you should be able to get one as soon as.

Hi Dawn

Not sure on that one, I would have thought it depends on how much you need to borrow, i.e. if you have a large amount of equity from your UK house you may only need a small mortgage.

ABC Diamond is probably the one in the know!!

Glad you like the site

Hi Dawn

Depending on your situation it is actually possible to get a mortgage on arrival in Perth, even if you dont have a job, in some cases a mortgage can even be sorted out before you leave the UK.

As for longer term renting, organising it is fairly straightforward, finding a suitable one is a bit harder as there are some dreadful ones out there, as a general rule unfurnished rentals in newer areas are more likely to be in better condition, in older areas there are still good ones to be had, but you will have to look at more of them to find a nice one, this is as many rentals in older areas have been rentals for years and never touched in that time so can be grotty, you need to try and find one that maybe hasnt been a rental for that long.

You'll find a page dedicated to rental information on www.movetoperth.com and also a confidential page to fill up to ask our mortgage advisor for information so you know where you stand finance wise.

Hope this helps

Lynn

Can I recommend that you email Nik Silsby (British Expat based in Perth) who is an excellent Mortgage Advisor, and particularly clued up on the various challenges facing newly arrived Brits! [email protected]
