Long shot...but anyone know how Share Options are taxed once in Oz?
Just wondering if anyone knows how these are taxed.
Granted a few years ago and due to expire in a couple of months.
Is the acquisition price :
the value of the option
the value on the date of becoming an Oz tax resident
zero
Ta.

Tricky I would say. A good accountant would be my first port of call.

Marco, have you tried contacting any local tax accountants in Adelaide, I'd have thought they'd know the answer to this, and if not will be able to find out for you.

You pay tax on current received value minus value of option proceeds at time of your move to australia ( Now dont ask me what happens if the negative number comes out - im not sure if you can get a tax loss credited ! ).
