I have a large family of lizards living mostly in my bedroom. Yeah they are good at keeping the insect life down and for that reason I rather welcome them. By the way I have the largest cockroaches I have ever seen out the back. However one slight prob is that they leave a lot of cr*p behind (especially the daddy). Not too bad to get rid of it from the floor but they seem to like dropping their guts in my wardrobe and not to put too fine a point on it - it stinks. My neighbour says there is something that you can use to deter them from certain areas - anyone know what I should do before they ruin all my designer clobber.

Failing that, put a bowl over them and slide a piece of card under the bowl, pick the whole thing up!

Everything I have looked up on the net points to gekos as being a godsend in the house because of thier effectiveness at keeping insects down. The problem is they tend to kill and eat whole, then vomit the stuff they dont want afterwards.
If you only want them to stay away from your wardrobe, try rubbing vicks vapo-rub around the entrance to your wardrobe.
Failing that, try training them to use the toilet !!!
With what he asks..................
Whips of course, small whips, very small whips
Now, its after 8pm, the official time for a drink
cheers

Vicks it is then. Question - should I rub some on their chests as well? I don't keep my small whips in the wardrobe.

Its a loud clicking sound, i'm not good at describing sounds, but if you could hear me now !
click, click, click, click, click, click (say it quickly)
I've got one now, at the top of the wall looking down at me..
I dont know what they eat here, and I've never seen anything left behind, yet.

But I do believe they are all over Oz!

Sorry, E, can't help you. I can't remember us having them in our houses....
I'd just ask someone who's been living in the area a bit longer ??
Good luck!

Here in suburban Sydney, we have lots of little tiny lizards living in the garden. Totally unscary and unthreatening. They do venture inside occasionally but do not climb walls or breed in cupboards. They probably die of fright a lot (we've found the odd crispy one behind the furniture sometimes). I imagine suburban Adelaide is much the same.

Don't panic! It's not normal to find animal families living in suburban wardrobes. Grubelise is in the Pilbara - which is a l-o-n-g way from civilization and is probably some sort of mining community. The wildlife up there is not what you would expect to find in the cities.

I wasn't panicking?
I know, the Pilbara, I lived there when I was a child

I was actually trying to reasure Steve, but I guess I didn't get my point across very clearly

Does sound like grubelice and you are both talking about gekko's. I think it's just bad luck that he's got them in a wardrobe actually, and maybe nothing to do with him living in the Pilbara, not sure though. But you would probably have a bigger change of coming across such things in the 'outback' !!
And I agree, they're usually nothing to worry about!
Sorry, I'm afraid I might be confusing again ??
