my husband has also been in the trade nearly as long as you have, and way in it at the deep end...so what?...i cant see the point you are trying to make...are you saying that because you have a certain job label you are automatically right? My husband would never be that pretentious, why are you?
i do believe there are anally retentive people, you can differ if you wish!!
BTW... you may have been a psychotherapist for 25yrs but so could anyone!!... you dont need a degree in anything to be one .... i am in no way saying you are not qualified, but i remember the scandal about joe bloggs on the street being able to set up a practice, and a lot of lives were ruined by these idiots.
Maybe they've changed hte rules now, i've been away a while...i certainly hope so!

My reference to prententiousness was in reply to your comment that "anal rententive" personalities was an outdated theory, and because you have worked in the business for 25yrs, you know better than everyone else who disagrees with you.
So... out of interest, why do you not believe this?...and also, what would you consider the "modern" equivalent?

I did not say I knew better than anyone else.
The 'theory' is out of date and has been for years.
Empirical research has moved us in the direction of Cognitive-Behavioural therapies in the modern world.

Yes..i accept CBT is the new way ahead, i was never questioning that.
I dont see why you have a problem with me quoting the term "anally rententive"...its not "pop psychology" it was merely a way of getting a point across so that people in general would understand what i was trying to say, mainly because most people have heard of it.
Why is it such an important issue for you? In fact...why did you feel the need to make comment on it at all??

Yes, you are right..
and as a sign of my generosity i shall rephrase and alter my description...
there are far less people in Oz who worry about things that dont need worrying about, and know how to let themselves go...
my appologies

Pros of living in Vic from Northampton.
Much lower crime no longer worry about my kids going to town, car still on the drive and tools still in my van in the morning
burglary very low,etc.
Much more space very low trafic you can plan to do 100klm in an hour.Build your own house no big deal here.
Fantastic beaches much warmer but still get 4 seasons so your not in the sun every day.
Easy access to Melbourne,Gt Ocean road ,rain forest,Water ski, fishing, surfing, beaches.
Lots to see and do.No T.V. License Req.
Good schools,not many speed cameras.
Cons.
No friends or family we did not know anyone at first ,see if you can get on your kids nerves more than they get on yours.
Crap T.V
You need a License for everything else.
Shools charge for everything books, reports, cutting the grass(lawn),uniform Exsp.
You have to work hard for all the pros as above.
Starting to install speed cameras, trafic lights well take some refreshments for when you get a red light.
People shopping in the supermarket with no bloody shoes on.
Getting lost for the first month when you go out.
Starting out no matter how well you were thought of in the UK here your nothing untill you prove yourself.
Must be lots more of both have a think.

Good stuff, and I would totally agree not once have I read you doing a Dr Phil (for want of a better Phrase) on anyone. That is the mark of professionalism.

Hey!!..whats wrong with doing a Dr Phil??...if someone is down and wants some help, support and advice theres nowt wrong with it!!!
I would rather that than a whinger going on about me, me, me all the time! or a "aint my problem, go away" attitude.
I amazes me that wanting to give help to others, or just shoulder to cry on is considered a bloody crime in here!!
