Now you're fence sitting but you've just proved my point exactly anyway . The precise reason for all these posts in this thread is that people feel strongly. BTW, Ive not seen anyone say he cant have an opinion, did I miss that part? But if people feel strongly about something someones said, then why should it be a surprise when they post that they disagree?

Timber, hes been banned before & no doubt will be banned again, he just comes back with a new username - pretty easy to spot though, same shit, different day .

Oh & if theres a meet on, I didnt think that there were personal invites? Its usually just posted on here & you post back that you are going or not?

Ceri, if you're still in Brisbane when I get back, we need to meet up. You'll probably understand me less even then.

So what if he thinks that; it's his choice, it's his opinion. Why should he be told how to think?
So what indeed. No-one is telling him how to think. Got me stuffed where you got that idea from.

His choice, his opinion and he's getting my choice and opinion back, and quite a few others.

The post was originally titled "Let's Shut Them All Up" which suggested to me that people shouldn't be allowed to say what they want.

And from the first post of the thread:

All opinions should be welcome if they are constructive in some way. Voicing extreme negatives on a site related to people in the process of immigration is futile.
I read this to mean that if your opinion isn't contructive you shouldn't be posting!

So all I'm saying is that positive or negative; people should be allowed to post what they want.

Agree.
And if you feel strongly, reply, argue back, prove them wrong etc.
Just don't get personal, threatening, abuse etc. IMHO

Kong may or may not be a troll. Who cares, either just reply to him, tell him why you don't agree, prove him wrong etc, or just ignore him. IMHO
What is the point in just telling him to 'shut up". Does that mean you can't prove him wrong? Is there maybe some truth in some of his posts??
Yes, though most of them are quite generalising etc etc, IMHO.

A forum is for discussion, no not personal abuse arguments, but discussion, well, that's what I've understood of it anyway.....
And recently it's more questions and anwers. But that's very useful too.

Maxxpaxx, I'm quite sure Ceri wasn't refferring too you.

Ceri, I'm very sure Megs and Flo are two. And speaking of Flo, he hasn't been on for ages!

Edited to add the obligatory IMHO.........

Oh for goodness sake!

The thread had a lighthearted title. I think I have said on more than one occasion that I do not want to shut anyone up. Would just like a discussion rather than be dictated to. On the whole I ignore posts like that but this chap did get personal - was not objective and frankly pissed me off.

It's not a case of me proving him wrong. I think you should read the post and not read things 'into' it.

Do I think there is some truth in his point of view - for him I'm sure there is - but that's the point isn't it hes not me or you or anyone else. Frankly with his attitude and how he is choosing to spend his freetime he will probably be unhappy here too.

why are you telling me who I should reply and how ? Your write whatever you like argument can't be made if you don't allow me to make this post.

If you don't mind this constant steam of Trolls good for you.

I have made it very clear what the poll was about now. You can read things into it all day long.

I'm sure lots of people on here actually agree with me but you lot scare people from posting what they really think.:scared: ..apart from me that is. I have an opinion and it's not yours.

I wasn't referring to you specifically, or this thread really.
And I'm also one that finds it hard to ignore stuff, like trolls and personal abuse.
I was referring more to stuff like this:
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=240160 (the responses by irishmolly and madsad)
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=240315
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=240367

Aren't some of his threads (copy and pastes mostly....), good starting points for discussion?
Why would we want to stop those types of posts? Yes, a broken record, but there's plenty of others willing to discuss the issues (which all (?) relate to Australian lifestyle/culture(working hours, aussies themselves migrating, water crisis))

I'm not telling you how to reply or how to post, I'm sorry if it came across that way!
I don't think it's a good way to reply though, by telling people to 'shut up' (not just you, and you were joking, yes) or post snoozing smilies, and that's why I posted, to discuss it!
You can post whatever you like, I do to(though sometimes regret it), and not everyone agrees/has to agree. Just giving my point of view...

Again, not sure what makes someone a troll.....
I don't not like people, I just don't like some of their posts (the personal abuse ones, the generalising ones, by kong, mike, others etc), but they often start good discussions (and unfortunetly often fights ).

Originally posted by maxpaxx I have made it very clear what the poll was about now. You can read things into it all day long.
My post was a sort of general one, about the comments made in kong's threads, and all other threads that have started because of them, not this poll. This poll is good (I love polls )
And I think a lot of the comments in here aren't about this poll thread either(more about the title anyway, but that was a joke)

Originally posted by maxpaxx I'm sure lots of people on here actually agree with me but you lot scare people from posting what they really think.:scared: ..apart from me that is. I have an opinion and it's not yours.

Well, I would be very sad if people didn't post their opinions because of me. Can't imagine it myself.... Am I that scary? Do I personally abuse people? Do I rubbish Australia? Do I rubbis the UK?
I don't believe in taking sides. I find it very wierd. There's always two (or more...) sides to an 'argument'/discussion. I understand why some people find Kong annoying (I think he's annoying too, and very generalising etc!!!!!!!!!!!), but he sometimes does have points, and he starts discussions about Ozzie lifestyle....

Basically, I agree with this post(I'm not that great with words....):
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=240324
(except the part about not having been there. Yes, I find that strange too, but I don't think a holiday would help much, a fact finding mission on the other hand, probably/maybe...???)

Maxpaxx you asked people to shutup. You want to stop some people from posting. Use the ignore button or run off to the moderators. I remember an incident where you and plum were arguing with Mrs DB and ABC over house prices and got all shirty over the unstoppable QLD housing boom. You had the dignity to apologise but it showed your unwillingness to listen to negatives.

This thread says more about you and an unwillingness to listen to all of Australias' aspects. Maybe its nerves that you are running into an adventure that has a high chance of costing a lot of money and leaving you back in the UK in a few years. Maybe it is the emotional impact. Who knows but you aren't a moderator.

Not listening to the extreme negatives may make your entire process of immigration futile

Lets face it if reading some negative comments puts a halt on your immigration plans then you arn't going to make it anyway. If they arn't gonna effect you then what are you bothered about.

The forum is going through a very stagnant phase at the moment and it is actually discussions which get "heated" that can add some spice to it. Somebody posts a generalisation then people can contribute to why this is not right. In the end it leads to more balance.

And no DUP you are wrong

I AM RIGHT

Sorry BP never had an argument with ABC nor ever likely to as I share most of his opinions. If you are referring to words I had with kiwiP and mrs db about tax then you would be right although you cannot compare that discussion as it was just that! and I have a lot of time for Mrs DB. As an honest person I hold my hands up and apologise if I consider I am in the wrong. Not many people do that on here though do they? I have no interest in the Queensland housing boom as I am not living there.?? The argument was not about me listening to negatives!!!!LOL

You should read my posts before judging me. I am openminded - not going with rose tints on out of lots of people on here I am well aware of the negatives.

You are reading the post in the wrong way if you just want to read the title! I did say I wanted a discssuion not to be dictated to.

This is getting v boring now. I have said why I put the poll on.

Thanks for the therapy session. Perhaps I am too normal to be on this forum. I just like nice friendly people. You are not a moderater either.

As for this costing me a lot of money you are spot on there £20k to move, but you will be pleased to know that I have my new house in Perth leased out for the next year at double the loan repayments so not exactly on the bread line and my husband is being transferred with his present company now so we will have an immediate wage. He will get a company car allowance and I have bought my new car in Perth with cash. We also have lots of savings. Please accept the fact that I have worked my tits off saving and researching this move.

My point is that then patronising shit that comes on here telling everyone not to go because he doesn't like it. I am telling it from the point of view of people in my situation. We are not all the same.

If I have nerves about going it is because I will miss my friends.

Anyway time to leave me of of this thread I wanted to show how many people havad been before..a point some of you have sadly missed.
