never been, but thats ok. I'm looking for something different after all. I read some of the negative posts just to be aware but some of the 'I just wanna trash Oz' ones I ignore. I'm optimistic. I think its what you make it. I'm a pretty stubborn person, and if I want to accomplish something.. I will. yes I'm going over there with my rose tinted specs, but thats how I face life. I cant imagine doing it any other way!

I am waiting for the onslaught..."how dare you make assumptions?"... who are you to know who and what i am?" ... well lets face it...they have been treating the happy and contented people like this from the offset, so i guess its only fair for me to have my assumptions and presumptions. Why do you think so many of us stopped posting? From one happy Aus resident who DOES live life in the real world and just loves Aus because it suits them... BTW... this doesnt take away from anyone who has genuine concerns and has constructive critisism...i have the ability to critisise Aus too, and have done so many times elsewhere. My post was aimed at the "i know better than you" school. Just try to remember...its often not WHAT you say but how you say it!! Toodle pip :D :D :D :D ...don't tell me enjoying your life! I got so sick and tired of the abuse and lack of respect for other peoples views, i felt it best for my own sanity to go elsewhere. I like to stay positive and happy. This place just got VERRRRRRRRY depressing. I also found myself getting involved in arguements, and thats not my style normally. I just pop in here now and again to keep up with people i was interested in before i left. Good luck with the move... i know you are not coming to Adelaide but if i can help in any way just holler!! :) |

Apparently I am 'not allowed' to post a poll relating to people who are waiting to go and should have put it on the other forum. Perhaps in 11 weeks time I will be ' allowed'! Funny though seem to remember someone asking about how to send their application on this very site only a month ago! - You know it hasn't changed one rule for them scenario. I am considering hanging up my keyboard now which is a shame as I would definately have given some update posts when I arrived, but hey I can't take the abuse and snipes anymore lifes too short! I am not an idiot, but you may reserve your judgement as you see fit. However the POST was curtained behind a more rooted argument, that being you dont like people on here that arent " constructive " I stand by the reply i did, it makes sense, and i think is fair. If you have taken it personally, and feel the need for personal insults, perhaps i touched a nerve. I apologise if that was the case ! |

You have not touched a nerve Ijust really feel your post was harsh. I was trying to point out that when this Kong person has been busy patronising everyone on here that some of us actually know a bit more than him. Different Trolls seem to come and go on this site, but they all set out to do one thing, upset people and make them question their actions of emigrating.
If you really want to do it, go for it. I know many Brits over here that love it, but likewise there must be people over here that hate it! I have yet to meet any yet though:) I questionned whether we were being completely insane leaving our safe lives in England, after all the postings from previous Trolls. In the end we gave up a lot, but are all happy that we did. We love this place and thought of it as home within a month of arriving. There are no rights or wrongs and financially it does all depend on what you earn out here as to whether things are cheaper or not. If you earn double or more than what you got in the Uk you should be pretty secure. Also if you had a large mortgage like us and now don't you will be thankful. Good luck to you all, it is an adventure and six months down the line we are still excited about this place. For us it is Paradise compared to England and we have no homesickness or needs to be going back:) |

I don't personally know Kong.. and yes he/she seems to be going way over the top at the moment ( which I'm killing myself laughing about at the moment Kong.. something needs livening up .. I agree with Ceri and TinaJ, I really don't see what all the fuss is about.
If people want to post negatives about Australia then why shouldn't they? This isn't the 'positive only' forum! And as Ceri says it's certainly entertaining to read! PB was constantly knocked for putting Perth down (and Australia in general), but as many have found he actually spoke a lot of truth and his information prepared them that little bit better. If you don't like reading Kong's stuff then block it or even better come to Australia and make your own mind up! |

The only other way is to stop using this expats site full stop, and use another site. That's what the majority of those moving to Adelaide seem to have done. As has been said before; Constructive comments, either negative or positive are always welcomed by everyone. Absolute crap that is just posted to wind everyone up, should be put in the other forums. I assumed those forums were created to allow this one to be used mainly for sensible discussions. Especially as two of them were created very soon after a bout of very agro postings, not that long ago. |
