chuck all your stuff on a IronKey usb stick...its full on 256 bit encryption which can only be accessed by a password... i have a 32GB one....proper kick ass bit of kit.... guys have spent days trying to get into it with no luck... if they want to check it... just say you cant rememeber the password... would love for them to try and crack into that.... if they are lucky (which i doubt very much) they just might find a copy of A-Team... whole of 24.... scrubs... and family guy!..... Oh and my bank statements...now how did that get there lol lol

yes its a new thing, you have to tick on your declaration form now if you have porn.
They dont say what defines porn though.
Lets say you have some sexy pics of your wife, they might class that as porn

What if you have some pics of your baby in the bath, they could class that as kiddie porn

Welcome to australia, prepare to dictated to by the goverment, a goverment that is controlled by the minning corporations. The same minning companys that are so powerful they can even change the PM if they like without anyone kicking up a fuss about it.

back on topic, the only trouble with getting a laptop abroad I would think would be if something goes wrong you dont have anywhere to take it back to

It was the unions that usurped the PM. They are the ones that really run the Labor party.

Hi dave,

Once I was explained by a vender that those international warranty deals stand any soil (for ex: hp) provided that authorized dealers are present.

This sounds fishy but any real wold experiences to share?

Anyone bought a laptop with Windows 7 on it? I loathe Vista, and my current laptop has XP. Its going to need upgrading soon so I'm just wondering what Windows 7 is like?

I am an IT geek so might be able to help. Windows 7 is the way to go. More like XP. Vista is old news now and was kak anyway - google it and see the complaints. Re. where to get it Sing airport 'might' be okay. You won't know what they stock though beforehand. You're prob better off getting it from UK as it'll be cheaper than Oz (most expensive place of 3). e.g if a laptop is 600 pounds in UK it'll be about $1500 in Oz

Warranty - get a HP as they have a worldwide guarantee. Thats what we did. Sony, Dell etc costs extra. One you get with it won't be valid in Oz.

3-4 Dean. And its poor. You'd be surprised how many people still go for them ;-)

Yep, very stable and nice interface. I have had no issues with it at all. Just as itxrd says.

If/when I replace mine it will be in the UK My current one came from PC World, bought it while back there on holiday. I really didn't want to have to get one with Vista so if Windows 7 is good I'll plan for one with that, maybe later this year. Sounds as if its a good way to go, thanks guys.
Next thing to worry about is whether i will cause raised eyebrows if going though airport security with TWO laptops, the old one and the new one (suitably disguised so as not to look new of course )
