Originally posted by jayr Kangaroo is a beautiful meat which I eat whenever I see on the menu at restaurants, very low in fat and high in protein too. Saw some in Coles the other day for about $6/kilo, about half the price of decent steak and got very excited. My wife, however, refuses to try it. Why won't people eat meat from an animal with a nice face? Yes, I imagine many Poms would like it :) . Jules/Chris - to get to the other side? ;) |

Id eat it ... got to be better than bloody boring chicken!

I wouldn't mind trying a bit of roo, myself. Although, if I were to cook a roo steak, I'd be worried it might jump from the frying pan into the fire....
badum-tish *groan* Seriously though, there's a few things I'd like to try when I get down under. I've never tried shark or croc. A more mainstream thing I did try in Oz was oysters. Bloomin' awful. Had an 'orrible after- taste in my gob for days! |

Originally posted by pleasancefamily SKIPPY needs to hop it - because scientists have found kangaroo meat is good for you. The super-lean food is rich in a fat that fends off diseases including cancer. Throwing some roo on the barbie also counters heart, obesity and diabetes problems. Expert Clare Engelke made the shock discovery while examining livestock to find a "healthy" fat called conjugated linoleic acid. She was looking at lambs - then switched to roos and discovered FIVE times the intensity. Clare, of the University of Western Australia, said: "It certainly was a big surprise." http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004192270,00.html hehe.....fur and all???? :D :D :D |

Originally posted by JulesandChris Why did the chicken cross the fish? Its actually true that they crossed a fish with a chook, It's called a FOOK, not that Ive had one lately, rare in these parts.;) |
Originally posted by Keith & Val I ate alligator once. Strange though - it didn't taste of anything at all! Keith It's all in how quickly it is cooked. Next time, ask the waiter to make it snappy. |
