The food at Kabalason is good but it is just a glorified cafe. The actual place is nothing spectacular. I have heard mixed reviews of the Glasgow Curry House at Currambine. Seems to be a bit hit and miss.

The best Indian food that I have had in Perth is at 2 Fat Indians in Mt Lawley. We had a fantastic meal there a few weeks ago.

Not sure about Joondalup but I went to Punjab (http://www.punjab.com.au which was nice.
and http://http://www.cinnamonclub.biz/ has been recommended to me but i'm yet to try it.
I have heard good things about 2 fat indians as Amazulu has mentioned.
My issue with Indian Restaurants in perth is the sauces are all very saucy with no substance. There's no content in them, no onion, or spices or tomatoes etc - it's just a sauce poured over. And i wish to god they'd use chicken breast meat a little more often - I'm sick of getting fatty chicken thigh meat on my dinner which I have to pick through.
Anyway rant over except for "Please for the love of God get some decent Indian Chef's over that know what they're doing".
I do miss the good indian restaurants in England and Glasgow.

Try the 5 rivers at woodvale, or Kababina in Joondalup, or Koh-ih-Noor at Padbury, or the Princess of India at Whitfords.
Indian restaurants here aren't the same as uk, but they cater for a diferent market, and you do get used to it.

The Glasgow Curry House in Currambine is our regular Indian, their food is fantastic and they use breast of chicken in all their chicken dishes, also you can order Jumbo naans which are rare in other restaurants.
My favourites are a proper sweet UK Korma and a chicken tikka chasni

Is the Glasgow Curry House the restaurant right beside the shopping centre in Currambine?
to Koh-I-Noor in Padbury and Chutney Mary's in Subi.
Sorry, I realise this isn't about Indians in Joondalup.....

We use the Kabalason, and we find it's the nearest we can get to a decent Uk curry As has been mentioned it looks like a basic cafe, seen many Indian families eating there so i take that as a very good sign, not been let down yet by them
