Just thought I`d add this to the list, seeing as how "Junk" seems to have disappeared...

Talking of junk, and to ensure that this post doesn`t get deleted, here is some useful information for those emigrating to Queensland:

We have wheelie bins here. Two. One with a green lid is for normal, smelly, gross stuff and the one with a yellow lid is for putting all your empty wine and beer in (recyclables).

Yellows get emptied once a fortnight, green once a week - and boy do they hum after a couple of days in the summer!!!
Three positive things you can do with a wheelie bin, I'm getting to like Australia so much now - There's so many positve things I have over looked:

Wheelie bins come in handy for the less fortunate people who do not own a pool. On a humid hot summers day, fill up the wheelie bin with water (empty rubbish first!) and stand inside the bin - Hey Presto -.one mini outdoor pool . If you prefer a spa to a pool just try a bit of flatulence in the water hence creating the calm, soothing, bubble effect.

Another use for them is camping , forget buying a tent , waste of money "you don't want to buy a tent do you?"! ... just take your wheelie bin to the campsite, put it on it's side and you have a nice one man tent to sleep in... you'll be the envy of all your fellow campers.

If you do not own a car ... cut two holes in the bottom for your legs to go through (just for up hill manoeuvre- coming down hills you need no leg power... wheee ) - cheap and easy - no petrol costs. You can also have his and her car wheelie bins, the yellow top for the ladies and the green top for the men.

Cheers

Cheap way of going racing! Two wheelie bins at the top of a hill and we could have our own little Formula 1! WHo needs a Ferrari......

I'm really looking forward to having 2 wheelie bins - bit of an improvement after a bin bag in the corner of the kitchen which you can't put out till dustbin day or the seagulls spread it all over the street..... ah the joys of Brighton life.

It is a bit ridiculous where we live. We have *three* wheelie bins!!

1) Brown for grass cuttings and branches (not vegetable waste, cardboard, or really anything else apart from grass and plants). Collected every second week (even in winter when you don't cut the grass).

2) Black one for general rubbish. Now collected every two weeks because of the brown ones..

3) Green one. We got this one recently. It is for most recyclable stuff except grass and anything that goes in the brown bin. Still haven't worked out when that gets collected but it seems to be random thursdays...

Never thought putting the rubbish out was so complicated.. Does enourage recycling though.

I do feel that the people who try this life are living on the edge and earn a poor living but its either buy a job like these or have no job.

That's not a bad thing PB at least people are having a go at something, it's the same here and with the limited time i have i'm glad that i don't have to clean my own bin, wash my own car, do my own ironing etc
