Default Joining the Oz Army from the UK

Hi Everyone,

This has probably been asked a thousand time on here but ill ask again lol

I am considering leaving the British Army and re-joining the Oz Army.

Has anyone on here done this ? And what was your experience ?

Is the a minimum requirement, Age, Rank Time served etc

Where would the best place for me to start my appication, ive looked on the web but have came up a blank.

I hope someone out there can answer my questions

Leigh

Hello Leigh

As usual this was easier a couple of years ago but they've made it harder.

I'm not sure of the current state of play but in the past it was normally open to Sgt's and above or if you had a specialist trade.

If you do make it you'll find it very similar to the British Army.

Hi Leigh.

We came over nearly 4 years ago via the lateral recruitment route. Am not sure if they are still recruiting but certainly worthwhile sending them an email. Here's the link http://www.defencejobs.gov.au/recrui...ants/army.aspx

Hi Leigh,

You've got more chance of getting to the moon I'm afraid and as has been said you will need a pretty specialised trade in order to qualify for a lateral transfer. If you are from one of the fighting arms eg: infantry, cavalry or arty, then it will be a no brainer as these arms are full up in the Aus Army at the mo. As has been said they have changed the goal posts so many times recently, this is because the recruiting quota's are full of Aussies wanting to serve, (probably because of the Ghan and being able to get some operational experience, of which the Aus Army has'nt had until recently).

Before this the high paid mining jobs and trades lured alot of potential recruits away from signing up. This may in the next few years come full circle because of the floods and storms we've had down here, there will be a massive demand for better paid labour in the private sector for reconstruction. In the mean time though fire'em an email you never know your luck!
