I paid £1509 with JM which included insurance (goods valued up to £6k) which was for a shared container.. I did have to pay a customs\ quarantine charge when my goods arrived in Oz too.. so prob closer to £17-£1800

Could I ask if that price was for half a 20ft container and when was that? I am probably going to go with JM but the quote they gave me is £600 more than yours and does not include insurance?

Export charges as £1,220.00
Container Decontamination Charges £15.00
Casing - Television £55.00
All Risk Insurance - Sea £182.00
Mould and Mildew Cover £18.27
Electrical and Mechanical Derangement Coverage £18.27
I then had to pay customs & a storage charge as I wasn't ready to take shipment (it came in 1 month). This was May 09.
I really couldn't say if this was a good deal or not, but it was money well spent either way as I had no problems.

Well mine was for 245 cubic feet, no idea if that's half a 20ft container or not.

Can I ask how much the customs and storage costs were as I may have to do the same at the other end?

ahh yeah that would prob make sense
Customs was $170, there was a storage handling fee of $265 and storage per week after that was $44 per week
JM were the mover in the UK & Wridgways delivered this side of the pond

Re: John mason 1/2 container - £2150 expensive?
We paid just under 2K for half a container last October + insurance, that was with John Mason. They assured us there was a place for it on the October shipment if we were able to get it packed up within 3 days, really pushed us and we all worked like mad getting everything cleaned and ready, it meant 6 weeks with no beds for us or the kids but we figured it would be worth it to get our stuff soon after we arrived.
Problem was it didn't make the October shipment, they didn't bother to tell us either. November was full and it went in December around the same time as we flew out so we waited until February for our stuff!!!! 4 months!!!
Very annoyed, mainly that they didn't communicate with us. Wridgeways, on this side were great and it was very exciting, first thing they did was open the toy boxes for the kids, it was like Christmas!! And first night sleep in a bed in 4 months for us all was heaven.
I would say if you use them, make sure they confirm shipment details and confirmation that you have a slot and that it has gone - we used a lady called Val.
Good luck
Debbie
