Jobs info
Hi new to the forum so forgive me if this has been posted anywhere else but i couldnt find anything browsing.
Here goes. thinking of moving me and the family to oz, looking at Melbourne and been searching the web for answers im about to ask but no joy.
My wife is a qualified social worker and a specialist in youth justice, im a health and safety consultant to nvq4 level and work for the UKs leading consultancy firm at the moment.
Going through the list of needed professions and it doesnt appear that social work is amongst them or h&s consultant.
Id prefer to gain entry through the work permit route to begin with.
Any ideas where we may be able to gain an offer of employment in our professions, ive searched the internet but no success.
Any help much appreciated

I think you will struggle to get sponsorship unless you have a strong civil engineering / construction background!
If you look in this Month's safety and health practitioner www.shponline.co.uk you will see there is a position advertised on there with 457 sponsorship.....
You may be able to get additional points to go on the PR visa if you have a significant amount of health and safety management experience by going for a skills assessment as HR manager (60 points) specialising in health and safety.
You will also see a number of threads on the iosh web forum re: VETASSESS and British Qualifications. I have had a sucessful assessment as a H&S Officer however I have an MSc in Safety Health and Environmental Management in addition to the NEBOSH Diploma.
I am lucky that my husbands profession i.e. lift engineer (mechanic) is on the MODL and so we are applying for the visa with him as the main applicant.
On a positive note if you eventually get out to Australia there seems to be plently of vacancies available and they highly value British practitioners.
Good luck with everything.

Re: Jobs info
Thanks for that info. Been doing a bit more research and it seems the best person to apply is my wife as a social worker under the subclass 175 work visa, she just makes the 120 points mark.
Im still trying to get my head round it all so maybe some one can just clarify this for me.
If she applies and is successfull i can go with her and work also??? do i need to go through hoops also to be able to work??? or is it pretty easy if the wife with 120 points is the main application???
Cheers in advance

Re: Jobs info
Cheers for clarifying that, its what i thought having read through the info but wasnt quite sure.
Now all i need is to try pursuade her as shes a bit reluctant because my eldest who is 13 is just doing her options, at the moment she goes to a private all girls school so ive got to research something similar in Melbourne now.
The more i look at it i realise what a big move it is with kids involved...
