Hi Andy & Simon and families

We're heading out to live in the bay soon too - waiting for 457 visa, Hubby gonna be working in Maryborough. We're me, hubby and sons 3,5,7yrs. Can't wait and by the time we get there I'll certainly need something a little stronger than coffee.

Hope you settle in well and can give us all the tips when we arrive

Sarah

I'm up there tomorrow if the winds drop, I've promised the wife a trip over to Platypus bay to see the whales.
We went out fishing today & she enjoyed the trip so much she suggested taking the boat out again tomorrow. I don't know what I did right I expected more resistance when I suggested an anniversary fishing trip.
A pint or two of Guinness in Hooligans then a quick trip over to Fraser. I may take a rod or two.

Anyone got anything to say about the primary schools in hervey bay? I've looked at some online and quite like the look of Yarilee.

How do they put english kids into the school? do they go by age? or by ability? I understand they start later and go a bit slower in Aus

Any issues re catchement - oversubscribing I need to be aware of?

Morning Sarah,

I know a couple of people whose children go to Yarilee and are not exctly happy with the school at the moment. Dont want to slag it off on here too much so PM me if you want more details.

My son goes to Sandy Straits Primary in Urangan/Torquay and I am very happy with his progress and the school.

Regards

Angela

Too windy to go out on the Bay so we're heading up to take the boat to the sail makers for some repair work to the Bimini. All being well we'll be having lunch up there about 1pm

hervey bay is full of poms. Just pop into any pub and you'll find a few-I work up at the"Bayswater" -yes i hate the advert too,but whether its a coffee or cocktail you are after the location is pretty perfect-oh and that Welsh fella behind the bar is a decent bloke(OK so its me)-and for anyone struggling to get PR,have faith ,I got mine last week at the grand age of 47.

Out of interest which visa did you get. OH is nearing 44 and we're going on 457 looking for a PR once we arrive.

I got an 857 sponsored regional visa.Actually came over on a 457ie but broke up with my wife hence had to change tack.I found immigration in Brisbane to be most helpful and I reckon it is far easier to get PR from here than from the UK.
