IT: Jobs: Feedback.
Hello Folks,
I was just looking out to reach the community in IT who landed safe.
How many people have got a job in IT after landing in Oz...?
Friends who reply can you mention your domain or area of work as well..

You know me: I've landed one before I go. We're leaving around the 11th of June. I work for a large American global company and are doing strategic IT management consulting. I know; fluffy words .. but essentially around IT Modernisation etc! Send me a pm if you are interested in details ..

Your first post was at 9.39pm Perth time (11.39pm Sydney), second post was at 1.18am Perth time (3.18am Sydney) - that is very early morning! Give it a bit of time for the non-night owls to awaken!

To answer the question, here in Melb, the 3 IT people I know who arrived around the same time as me all got jobs within a month. I got the first job I applied for. But then, we all have skills that are in the MODL 'hot' list, so maybe that helped....
Good luck!

Government jobs are a pain in the butt to apply for and can take an age to respond ... I got a rejection letter one day having been contacted by the boss the previous with an offer of some some unrelated contact work ... so, worth applying for all you see that's within your skill-set, basically.
The jobs are here but it ain't London so not as many and I don't think a new-arrival can be too picky on their first step on the ladder.
My skillset is 12 years commercial software engineering (C/C++/MFC/Unix) specialising recently in web-development (Java/Coldfusion/Dreamweaver) at the moment.
If you want any more pointers (hah! a hardcore geek joke) pandya_m then just holler.
Cheers,
Matt
