Oh I am not advocating ditching anything...just saying that it can be an option. I am fortunate in that I have full private health provided for by my company. Thus far I have used it for Eye Tests and Dental Checks. Nothing else.

TBH this really gives you the same as NHS in UK, so for those here on a Temp Visa this MAY be all they want if they don't have Private HealthCare in UK either.

Everyones situation is different. I started off here with no private but with kids like mine, the family uses private extensively on top of medicare. A number of procedures were done that even as citizens are a long wait on medicare.

I am in Oatley if you would like to know any questions. It's a lovely area with good schools. The train line runs South though, so if you relying on the rail network to commute then you may need to be on another line for South-West.
