Default Job Offer - Skilled Independent application

Does having a written, guaranteed job offer speed up the application process ?

I am a Hairdresser and as this trade being on the MODL list, I was offered a job in QLD.

Did anyone else applying for Skilled Ind. have a written job offer and did they think it speeded up the visa application ?

Thanks.

I don't believe a job offer has any bearing on your application

Doesn't a firm job offer give you extra points though ?

Asked my agent the same thing. He said that getting a job offer doesn't do anything for your visa. He also said that If we had the job offer earlier on then we could have gone for sponsership visa instead. Now he said we may as well stay on the visa we are on as were are at the point of medicals/police checks.

The reason I ask is because I'm sure it mentions about a written job offer on the visa application form, plus it is on austimeline. It also gives extra points, although as Hairdresser is on the MODL it gets maximum points regardless.

As for employer sponsorship, not me...you are tied to an employer who would sponsor you for 3 years, imagine if you have an arguement. You just can't get up and leave as they'll revoke your visa !

Oh well, back to square one and sit and wait.

Cheers !

A MODL job offer will give you more points than if you just nominate a MODL occupation without a job offer.

MODL applications are not officially processed any faster than other regular applications. The only applications that are fasttracked are nurses and certain sponsored categories. MODL in itself will not normally speed up your application, with or without a job offer.

When I got my job offer I asked my employer to write to my case officer. Not sure if it had any impact but I got my visa very very soon after that. :-)
