Question Job Market & Phone Interviews

Hi Folks,

We have just received our grant letter for subclass 136 last week.
Now we are thinking of seriously looking for jobs in australia.

I am in SAP while my spouse is an electronics engineer.

I do noticed that there are limited electronics positions in Perth.
Sydney may seemed to have more opportunities for electronics job.

Is phone interview a norm for recruitment in australia ? I do get feedbacks frm recruitment agents that they will need to meet us in person even before forwarding our resumes to the clients. We do hope to secure a job via phone interview instead.

Your views please.

I work in recruitment. It's pretty unlikely that you will secure a job before you come over. We don't generally forward resumes on to clients of people we haven't met, either.

I agree dont waste your time before you are here, on a more positive note though, the company i work for installed SAP last year across their manufacturing sites and have had a lot of issues. They are always looking for SAP experts and they are very hard to find in Australia. I am an Engineer and i'm sure your partner will have mo problem finding a job anywhere in Australia with his trade. Good luck
