Introduction
Hi All
We have just discovered this fab site. Im supposed to be working but can't stop reading all the threads We are Cassie and James and have just started to look into moving to Oz but seriously just don't know where to start.... We had a 'chat' with an agent yesterday and although the fees are quite a lot we don't really feel confident enough about doing this ourselves. OH will be applying for a 136 visa as he's a solid plasterer. Hopefully reading through will give us a load more info and a shed load of confidence to start this!!
Nice to 'meet' you all
Cassie and James

Re: Introduction
Welcome. Have you found the immigration site? There will be more information there than you can shake a stick at. It is actually fairly straightforward to DIY as long as you organise things well. I have a spouse visa so haven't had to do the hard yards.
Make sure if you do go with an agent, you go with a good reputable one who will not stitch you up. Again the Immi site will have stacks of advice on that. You will find other plasterers around, someone was posting about it recently but I didn't take any notice (except for the title)
Be prepared to forget to eat, work, shop, tell your family you will be away from real life for the rest of your time in the UK - you'll be on here

Re: Introduction
hello and welcome!
I'm new here too (just joined this week) and already I'm up to my eyeballs in great information! I think we'll be applying for the same type of visa and according to those more wise than I on this forum, it should be pretty straightforward to do it ourselves as long as we're thorough and don't mind form filling, it'll hopefully save us a bundle!
all the best,
Therese

Re: Introduction
Thanks for all the kind words guys, we need to get our research heads on and start the long process. We have a dog we want to take with us as well so we'll need to sort him out. I'm sure we'll be asking a whole load of questions in due course

Welcome to BE
A good site to look at (apart from this) is www.immi.gov.au the official Australian Immigration site.
Also if you do a forum search for any question you think of there will be loads of info on it, and if not just ask away.
Make sure you pop into the Barbie and have a few laughs along the way http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=92
