Default Interview attire?

Hi
What's the normal business dress for attending interviews in Australia (Victoria in November particularly, so warm I hope)? Will OH need a suit (office based, managerial type of position), could he wear smart trousers and shirt without tie or is a jacket expected.
Many thanks

Ditto, to a suit ( plus clean shoes) I think it looks as if he has made an effort and comes accross as seriously interested.

I work at a recruitment agency and can tell you that a suit is always looked upon favourably. You can always take off the jacket and loosen the tie if you feel overdressed.
