Internet providers nz
Just wondered can you go pick up a disc for your internet from a pc store in nz like you can in the uk. We are with freeserve anytime here.
Do they have any "anytime" internet providers

Most people use Xtra who are owned by NZ-Telecom. We pay about $24 per month for unlimited access...
You can also get broadband access in most metroplitan areas, not too sure what the costs are though as we are out in the sticks and only have dial-up.
If you contact Xtra they will send you a disk rather like you are used to that does all the grunt work...

Just joined xtra broadband - $199 start up and $59 a month. Was with actrix which is recommended at about $19. However found dial up slower than Tiscali in Uk thus went with Broadband.
If you are 'roaming' with a laptop on arrival can get a roaming (no address) service via Quik from Dick Smith electronics and use you freeserve e-mail service via their home page.

There are some links to ISP's in the Internet section of the NZ Links site at www.benz1.com.
Slingshot is worth a look as you also get access to their cheap toll calls. Just 12c a minute within NZ and to the UK, or $4 for up to 2 hours!
