Default Insurance for the journey and arrival

Does anyone know what we should do about insuring ourselves and our possessions while we are travelling and for the first couple of weeks?
We will be sorting out private medical insurance on arrival, but what should we arrange for en-route as normal travel insurance doesn't seem to cover us?
Also, most of our possessions are going by container so are insured, but what about the things we take with us? We are renting for the first 4 weeks and need cover in case something gets damaged or stolen before we get chance to arrange something more permanent.
We leave next thursday and I've only just thought about it so any advice would be appreciated. Cheers!

We used Go Walkabout travel insurance

www.go-walkabout.co.uk

They were very reasonably priced and really helpful and friendly.

Good luck with the move.

We used the same as Ann & Paul. Go walkabout which included 17 days when you arrive and if I remember correctly, insurance from loosing your car hire collision waiver.

Some insurance will end at the point you enter the country.... which is useless if you loose something in the airport car park!

Neil.
