Default Info on Brisbane

Hi

I'm in the final stages of getting my residency visa for Australia and starting to think seriously of where to look to settle.

I have previously worked in Perth which I loved but as an IT worker found the market too small and in the current climate it would be nearly impossible to get a job there if we went back.

We visited Sydney and weren’t bowled over by the place. Manley was great but it just seemed like an australian version of London in the sun !!!

Melbournes out for the climate - the main reason we're leaving is the weather. Hibernating from October to April isn't our idea of living.

Adelade I don't know but Id imagine suffers the same problem as perth.

So how about Brisbane??? Does anyone know the relative size of the IT market compared with Sydney? or what state it's in now? My girlfriend is a trainee nurse, are there plenty of decent hospitals to work in? Is real estate affordable ? We'd be looking to spend maybe 250k - 300k Aus D.

Any info much appreciated

Andy

Default Re: Info on Brisbane

Adelaide's lovely with really nice climate. They are desperate for nurses. Also there is a fair bit of industry with Holdens car factory, the wines of the Barossa and state HQ's of large companies and big army base.. No where near as much as Melbourne though. Perhaps it's time to do a different job?

Mash...
