quite a few of my family have bought us going away prezzies..we have had more or less everything brand new..

whats the situation on prezzies,do you have to pay import tax???

my experience says that it is a very hit and miss. I had a brand new Dyson, a Denon amplifier and a decent set of JBL loudspeakers in my container. I did not get a tax bill.

does import tax apply to everything you bring with you when you move. It was suggested to bring a new washing machine and tumble dryer as better than Aussie ones. How much is the import duty and where and when does it get paid?
