Default Impatience

We have had our visas for 2 months now and the impatience is beginning to get to me!! The weather isn't helping, the last 4 days have been pretty awful. Our house has been on the market 2 weeks and we have only had 1 viewing which is really p*****g me off. The estate agents are living up to all expectations ( unfortunately)

I am feeling bored, bored and can't wait to leave. It is really getting to me at the moment. When you decide that you want to start a new life you want it to start quickly.

We can't leave any earlier due to work and family commitments, but I don't know how I am going to get through another 5 months of this!!

Thanks, I have got that off of my chest now. I just wish we could close our eyes and appear in Brisbane. Now that would be nice.

Does anyone else feel the same, or am I just an impatient old bag?

You may or may not be an old bag I could'nt say Regarding the impatience I can assure you, you are not alone. At least you are clutching tightly onto your visa. I want to get to Brissy too but still have'nt got the the PR, although I think I'm close. This waiting game just is'nt my style and I'm getting sick of it.

Anyway time for our Sunday jaunt down the White Horse. A few beers, couple of G&t's and the odd Scotch thrown in for good measure. I hope I can find a good local in Aus.

Certainly not an old bag Tina, don't worry! Its a horrible feeling isn't it, like being in suspended animation - theres so much that has to be done but you can't actually get on with any of it yet!
Not much you can do - I'm trying to make the most of the things I'll miss from over here (like friends and family and favourite places). I'm also making a list of stuff that'll need sorting as soon as I get to OZ - tax numbers, medicare and all that kind of thing, so that when I get there I have an organised list of numbers to work through!
Right now though, closing my eyes and opening them in Brisbane sounds idyllic........

Hi Tina

you are certainly not alone in this. We have had ours on the market for 4 months. Nearly 50 viewings, and no offers, despite the place being in immaculate condition whenever anyone comes round. It's had me pulling my hair out in chunks.

The only upside to this is that after months of saving we are now in a position to rent the house out and go without selling it. Looks like this is what we might do. we wont' be able to buy over there straight away, but at least we'll be there!

Good luck. I wont say don't get too frustrated over it, because i know it's impossible.

Thanks for all of your encouragement, at least I know I am not the only one.

I hope we all get our buyers soon.

Hi Tina,

I can fully understand where you're coming from. We have had our visa's for New Zealand for 6 weeks now. Unfortunately our house has been on the market for three months, we've had only six viewings and no offers, despite reducing the price by £15,000!! It's becoming an anti climax having our visa's because until the house sells we are in no position to emigrate and we can't wait to go. Ah well patience was never my best quality.
Good luck with the house sale.

Let's put it this way: you're certainly not impatient!!!

Expecting a sale after 2 weeks!!!

Old bag I can't assess, sounds like Jamie Oliver should be into recycling and more.

In the same boat as you. Got the visas in May, put house on the market, sold it. 3 weeks, they pulled out. Back on the market another 5 weeks. Only 2 viewings.
Every time the phone rings, we both run shouting 'I'll get it, I'll get it', in anticipation of the Estate agent ringing to let us know that maybe someone wants to come out and have a look around the house. You should see our faces when it isn't the Estate agent. 'Oh its you'.
Hubby and I have now taken to sighing every couple of minutes.

We had some friends over for the weekend, which has made it a bit better than usual.
As you say, it is so frustrating waiting with your life on hold when you have so many plans.

Hi Tina,

Sorry to hear you are feeling low, i guess it is the emotional rollercoaster everyone goes on about.

We are putting our flat on the market this week but are not in a rush as we will be moving in with the mother in law until we fly out in Feb. The market up here is pretty good things going in 4 weeks.

Good luck to everyone trying to sell and we shall all have a drink in Brissy togehter and laugh at ourselves next year.

These are indeed anxious times for us, all being well visa's should arrive any day now, but because this isn't is certain, my wife will not exchange contracts until we have visa's in our hands. We had a survey on the house last week and are expecting them to ask us to exchange any day soon. :scared: :scared: :scared:
If it were up to me alone, and given the present state of the housing market I would exchange anyway.

Hi Tina

Hang in there. You really do need to be patient. If I were you I would spend all my spare time planning / packing rather than getting stressed.

You will get there - everydone does - its just a case of time.

Good luck

Just knew it, no visa yet, but to-day we received a letter from the solicitor asking us for an urgent exchange and completion date! We had previously agreed with our purchasers that we would complete in October when we expect to walk out and get on the plane to Oz. Dilemma is, without the visas what should we do?
