Trying to claim kindy child care rebates. Latest is that I have to have children's immunisations up to date. All the UK jabs are fully up to date and in red book. Children haven't had hep B or chicken pox vaccine (although they have already had chicken pox but don't know how I can prove this).
Do I have to go to a doctor's so that they can update the immunisation register and then go to a clinic and get Hep B done. Think I have read it is 3 jabs over 4 months.
Will I not get any rebates until all this is done - guess it will take 4 months. Will rebates get backdated?
Seems it is one form after another.....

I took my son to the doctors and booked him in for his first jab for Hep B, didnt have to have the Chicken pox jab has i'd had that done in the Uk privately. You need to make sure that you get the Nurse/doctor to contact the immunisation register people to say that your son/daughter is on a "Catch up programme due to moving over from the Uk" and having their first jab on whatever date and has a booking for the second and provide this date too. You also need to contact the register people and family assistance at Centrelink to let them know the bookings.
Its important you get the doctors to do their part, mine didnt initally and they threatened to stop the childcare payments,as soon as my doctors did their part they were happy.
Incidentally it takes longer than 4 months, depending on their age as there has to be a certain gap between them,my son started his in Jan and has his last in Sept... You can sign up for the payments straight away as long as they know what your catchup plan is...... the way it works is you get a certain amount of time at a reduced percentage. I get 2 days at half price. So my son goes 3 days, 2 at half the price and one at full price and thats what i pay for.Its all dependant on the family earnings. From memory they will only backdate it a short time, but just sign up asap and you should be fine.
You generally get a tax rebate on your payments every quarter so thats good too.
Hope this helps

They were happy for me to tell them that she had chickenpox - over 100 spots but not happy about son who had 15 spots at 11 weeks old so he will have to have booster at 18 months. Their Hep B are 1 month apart for 1st 2 then I think their last one is after another 4 months or so.....
You really have to chase the surgery, mine lost the photocopy of my son's red book entry, and I phoned the Immunisation register today and it's still not updated. I know it is at least on the surgery system now as I've seen it myself!! Will keep on at them if nothing happens next week.
The man on the phone told me not to even try claiming stuff til the register was sorted?

So its not a new thing!
When the child turns 2 and 4 FAO will do a data match with the ACIR, if Immunisation records are not up to date CCF and CCTR will cancel.
If on a catch up you can get a letter from your DR outlining the catch up programme and you will stay current. You can also get an exemption for medical reasons outlining why child is not UTD or if you refuse immunisation.
Also Dr's can be very slow at sending the paperwork through to the ACIR and the match with ACIR can take a while, in which case get a letter from dr with immunisation details and take straight in to centre link if the match isnt happening.
I'm assuming you are all on PR's rather than 457's because the amount of 457's who are incorrectly advised by childcare providers to claim is unbelievable.

My kids are on catch up too. They had some last week. I was told that because my 4 year old hadn't had a Men C jab at or after 12 months (it wasn't on the schedule in the UK then - it is now) she needed that too to get life immunity.

As the others have said you need to ask your doctor to take down the details of the immunisations they have had from the red book and the doctor gets in contact with the Immunisation Register to update it....
...and then probably do that 3 x more and eventually your details may finally get put in. We arrived last year and we're still waiting for the details to appear on the register (even though they've apparently been sent 3 times). Also the advice I've got from the different GPs and nurses has been all different.
The first GP told me I had to ring up to advise the immunisation register myself (which I did and after 30 mins of ringing was told that the GP had to tell them), the first GP also told me that my baby would need the Hep B and that I would have to buy that privately as it's usually part of a combo vaccine and can't be ordered separately. So I went to get the prescription filled and brought it back to the nurse at the practice. The doctor prescribed her an adult dose and I was quite worried so the nurse spoke to another GP at that practice and he said to just give her 1/2 the syringe! The nurse then said that the Hep B can be ordered in from the immunisations people on "catch up" and that I needn't have got it on private after all (well I'd already paid for it by then). She had her 1st 2 Hep B jabs at that practice.
Moved to a new area and went to new GP for her 12 month jabs and he said that Hep B would have to be done privately. So I'm going back to the other place instead. The new doctor also said she needs 4 catch up Hep B jabs in total, whereas I was told previously it was just 3.
I'm so glad you can just go to a different GP and aren't stuck with just one.
Sorry - I've prattled on a bit. What I'm basically saying is that it is possible for them to order the catch up vaccinations from the immunisation peeps and you don't have to necessarily pay for it yourself privately (even though some GPs will say you do).

Hi guys,
Really interested in this thread (even though I feel out of my depth here a little).
We plan on making the big move over to Perth (from the UK) next June at which time our little one will be a few months over 3 yrs. He is currently fully up to date with all required jabs and if I recall correctly there would be one due in the July (MMR booster) that we are going to see if we can get it done in the June before we leave.... we will see if we are allowed.
My questions are these:
1) Are there additional jabs in Aus that are not in the UK (I have read about the 4 Hep B jabs)???
2) What would you recommend as the best first steps we should take once we get there (and is it worth doing anything during our 2 week validation trip in December)?
Thanks for any info....

Yes there are different jabs here in additional to the uk ones... no idea what they are though as my kids are older and i've never been asked to provide documentation.

UK ones up with the Aus ones took 1 Dr and 3 nurses to check and umm and ahhh! Also complicated by the fact that the UK changed their schedule between DD who is 4 and DS who is 1, so they have had different schedules!
It does get confusing. There is a leaflet here http://immunise.health.gov.au/internet/immunise/publishing.nsf/Content/E875BA5436C6DF9BCA2575BD001C80BF/$File/nip-schedule-card-july07.pdf
This will show you the schedule for Australia - was told to ignore the Rotavirus one for UK kids.
