My old man is like that too, gave up a staff job 16 years ago and never looked back. There is no such thing as job security anymore even for staffies. Mr NB went and worked on a job in Canada, within 6 months the job had been canned and everyone walked, including the staffies. No such thing as a job for life anymore.

I have done contacting on and off over the years. Give me a well paid staff job any day. You get your holidays, public holidays, sick, company car etc.

you have to earn a considerable amount more as a contractor to make up for that lot and despite what people say, it is the contractors who get laid off first when things go quite. I know it has happened to me a few times.

p.s I am not a loser, just someone who knows what side their bread is best buttered on and pay your taxes you crook

After all, are you also not being paid alot of money to bring a pool of technical knowledge to solve a problem in a market where there is currently demand?
