How much were your AQIS fees etc for a 20 foot container?
Hi
Just finalising shipping companies and costs for a 20 foot container. Obviously there will be extra charges on top of the shippers fee, however some companies include these charges in their (higher) costs so it is hard to compare.
Would be grateful for any experience shared.
Thanks
Buzzy

Be careful.
Check just one more time that your 20 ft container is booked for handling by a company that does personal effect imports.
At both ends. A UK exporter and an Aus importer will start to play financial tennis if you're not on the ball...
Ours went tits up at this end and it's not funny. For a start it cost $400 to take it off the ship and put it on the docks, a further 200 to move it to a bonded warehouse and once it's there the nightmare begins...Aquis about $120.00 per half hour, more for cleaning as required...and it will be, somewhere...Book Aquis for at least an hour or they'll do 30 minuits and come back another day.....Unloading the container and storing is outrageous, and sending the container back to the shipping company will reveal more charges and a premium rate for extra days if things slow down....
Our total was $4,200.00 with three days personally attending the fiasco at Brisbane docks thrown in for free....Welcome to Australia etc etc..
All avoidable if you have an itemised invoice showing what you have paid for already....
I had to row with the UK agent and finally won but it was touch and go as to wether we would end up in a UK court for a while ( I promised to accept a 50% refund on extra costs or fly Business class to England and stay in a Hotel until the case was decided, with costs..it worked but it was a fight we didn't need on arrival here)
Anyway, just check and have the services confirmed in writing before you pay anything....
Of coure once you're out of the docks and your stuff is all yours again you'll probably wonder what you were thinking of sending it here in the first place...
