I am ready to book a container maybe 20ft or 40ft, has anyone had a good price from a reliable company, also would you recommend insurance and what is the average time it takes to arrive?

We are taking a 20ft container to Brisbane. I guess it depends where in the UK you are going from as to the price. We are going from the South and have been quoted between £4k - £5k. Here's a few names of shippers: Crown, John Mason, Pickfords and Anglo Pacific. We had 5 quotes and the ones we were most impressed with was Cown and John Mason. (They weren't necessaily the cheapest)
We will be using Letton and Percival for insurance as they are much cheaper and from the reports I have seen on here very good.
Shipping times are around 8-10 weeks door to door.
When are you going?

Ours was £3800 for a 20 foot container from Northamptonshire to Brisbane with Robinsons. We were very pleased with them. Took about 8 weeks. Bought our insurance direct from Letton Percival.

We're not sure exactly where we are going - we didn't really look at specific areas when we went - just enjoyed the touristy side of things. Somewhere between Brisbane and Gold Coast but nearer towards Brisbane end. How about you guys?

Hi
We moved over six years ago, our gear came in a 20ft container from North Notts that cost 3300 pounds.
We used Doree Bonner and their insurance, several items got damaged and we found it hard to get any insurance money so be careful who you use.

We shipped our stuff with Crown relocations in the end and they quoted Fife to Gold Coast:
400cbft effects plus car in sole use 20ft container £5228
570cbft effects plus car in sole use 40ft container £7355
Although didnt end up going down this route this is what they quoted. (from 3rd October 2011)
Also we got a quote slightly further back from Anglo Pacific:
20ft container was £3,930. (March 2011)
Also insurance with Crown is 3 to 3.5% but with Letton Pericival it is 1.5% if memory serves correct.
Hope this helps

In 2008 we used GB Liners, 5200 pound in VAT for a 40 ft Door to door,packed/unpacked 50kms South of Brisbane. Plus 700 pound for insurance. did wonder about that at first but a quick add up valued replacement at 28,000 pound so worth every penny if you want to sleep at night. you can do it cheaper. not using an agent perhaps. But search on here and you will probably find some horror stories. A friend here still has trouble trying to transport stuff through supposedley reputable companies.

we moved march 2011. £3590 chelmsford to Caloundra with Arrowpak for a 20 foot container filled to breaking point...we didnt think the doors would even shut!! Used insure your move who were great. bare in mind we were told we would need a 40 foot container by pickfords which they would take away and fill for double this price and several people told us we would never get our stuff in a 20 foot . we were so confused and had no idea what our volume was until the day given the huge variations in estimates.
