Default How much on average to learn to drive in Canberra?

Does anyone have an estimate as to how much it would cost to learn to drive in Canberra, assuming the learner already has had some experience driving but didn't yet get a license?

It's usually around $50 - $60 per hour for driving lessons.

Hey Wendy,

But what would it cost in total? As I understand it, one has to have like 50 hours on the road to qualify for the test in NSW, so does that mean a minimum of 50 x $55 or $2750?

Well I'm not sure about NSW cos I'm in SA. Here you can do it via the logbook, which is 50 hours of driving, or you can sit a test similar to the UK so don't need to do 50 hours.

The logbook method just requires any eligible driver to teach you, so if you know someone who has held a licence for 2 years, they can learn you.

Hopefully someone from NSW can tell you if it's similar there.

Just looked on the RTA site for NSW and you need the 50 hours, but it can be any driver that holds a full Australian licence, so your best bet would be to try to get someone to teach you instead of using a driving instructor.
