Not us. My family's Australian on my father's side (ranching family) and myself and my brothers and sister are first-generation poms (mum being Irish). Got loads of family out there including parents, cousins, big sister, little brother etc... have been visiting for years, decided to make the move out last year. Can't wait ...

We didn't notice any TV programs on Australia before we decided to migrate. After we had sent off the application to DIMIA, we started noticing everything Australian - life in Australia, travelling in Australia, etc - on TV, newspapers, and magazines.

Always fancied OZ, but after seeing Billy Connolly's world tour of Australia, that help us make the decision to go. Whilst there we got married, decided this is the place we wanted to live

That series almost made me think twice about going there...
Then I reminded myself that having already spent several months in Aus before, that Aus is absolutely nothing like that: It's much nicer! Well most of it....
I have had an interest in Aus since being a child in the 70s. One of our neighbours was Aussie, and showed me loads of pics of Aus and Aus wildlife (which has always fascinated me). I have always loved travelling and said to myself that one day I would go there. I got hooked on a natural history series called 'the Nature of Australia', which I loved and I went to many of the places featured just to see what they were like, most notably the Wet Tropics around Cairns, which I thought were brilliant.
I'm not really sure when I actually decided that I might want to live there. I think it was just an idea that evolved over several years, and which I ummed and erred about for ages. I wish I'd come up with the idea years ago mind, as I'm not getting any younger (I'll be 40 in a few weeks...)

Hubby bought it on DVD for me as an aniversary pressie. He thanks Billy Connolly for getting me to Oz, if he hadn't, we wouldn't of met.
