With any luck we'll find somthing. We have worked out we have got between 9 months and a years worth of savings, renting a place for up to $300 a week, and Sus is an aussie, so even if i can't get much initially she should find it a bit easier. HONEST....i won't just leave her doing the work while i live a life of leisure .
Been doing quite a bit of web research and with any luck everything will fall into some kind of place. 8 weeks holiday in SA, and then up to bris to start a new chapter. All kicking off at 10pm terminal 4 heathrow next Sunday.

Best of luck for next week then!
....my hubby had the hope of the life of leisure! He got us over here on his print qualifications and never managed to get a job in print ever since (20 months) - he now sells cars!
I work in IT, managed a transfer, only now working myself back to where I was. I hate to think where we might be if it did not happen in some part for us....pigs guts...or worse...working in a pub!
Cheers

Hey, good luck to you and Sus. I didn't realise you were off so soon. Luckily George Bush will be away by then so Heathrow will be back to normal.

We hope to stay in our current fields of employment , nothing like brain surgery but still kind of specialised.
If we cannot find work within the first month or so then it's all hands on deck and anything is acceptable appart from working in an abbatoir( worked in an abbatoir.....................................for one day, saw things that really turned my stomach ).
Qualifications, whether they be O levels, A levels, Degree's etc are purely a piece of paper that tell a prospective employer you have achieved a certain level of knowledge. They are NO indication ( in my view ) of a persons capabilities in that job.
What they do achieve however is an interview, too many times have i had an application overlooked because of my qualifications ( lack of ) and in this respect the more you have the better.
Skills come with knowledge AND experience.
I ( as stated previously ) work in the data comms industry and see all too often an office worker who stands in front of me and talks down to me because they have a degree in this or A levels coming out of their ears and they feel superior and i simply install the cabling etc.
My point being, if i took that same person into a telecomms MDF and told them to " find a live pair " or sat them in front of a data cabinet and asked them to do some patching they wouldn't have a clue where to start.
Each person deserves the same level of respect from each other regardless of qualifications achieved. If that person speaks to me with respect then i will be helpful and return the same, otherwise they can stick their degree up their arse.
For those that have degree's, congratulations, as they are not something you can simply apply for but do indeed have to earn.Just remember, because i do not have one does not make me a lesser person.
You can paint a turd any colour you want but at the end of the day, it's still a turd.

I would do anything if it paid the rent. In between nursing jobs i have worked in macdonalds, have been a cleaner and have worked in a pub.
Dont mind the grafting, I will do it (except prostitution!! would be lucky to get a quid never mind a living out of it! )

Well I have to admit if I had to work as a prostitute I probably wouldn't be able to pay the rent as my arse is a bit too lardy to turn anyone on so my incomings would be rather light.
I agree that everyone deserves the same amount of respect, regardless of qualifications or job title. People who look down on garbos or checkout chicks should remember that without these people are lives would be so much harder.

Nobody is looking down on people without degrees.
I know people without degrees. The fact that I won't have them in the house is purely because they may not be able to master the stairs, or they may injur themselves on the cork screw...
