How Long Have You Lived In Oz?
#46
3 years 2 months. The first 8 months when we were renting with no income were very hard, the feeling of isolation and 'what have we done' is overwhelming at times. But as soon as we owned our own house, bought our business and established a normal routine everything seemed to fit. The often quoted advice of giving Australia 2 years and then taking stock is in my opinion one of the best recommendations.
I have no desire to return to UK at all but still consider the place I was born, educated, married, bought up my children to be home. I would rather spend any travel time / money on exploring Australia or travelling to Pacific Islands.

A fraction under 5 years plus 1 before a gap back in the UK.
So I've accrued 6 years in 7 elapsed- which is starting to sound serious.
It has now been 10 years since I first left the UK on a permy basis.

8 and a bit years. We do have a good life on the whole here, I just wish it wasn't so far away!! Still miss my family but sometimes glad of the distance too! I try and get back every 18 months - 2 years to see everyone which can be a bit of an emotional upheaval.
Can't leave Aus until my kids are older (due to Australian ex-husband) so I'm here for at least another 8 odd years but don't rule out a return to UK or maybe Europe further down the track.
