Didn't make an offer as I think they are still overpriced. ;) And only 6 mins from Brisbane CBD! Ahhh, you little bargain hunter you ;) |

linky And there is more. And this is just one bayside suburb, there are hundreds of suburbs to choose from. The myth is frightening but untrue, there are affordable houses here. |

Now! this is something that cheered the missus up a bit this is a prperty that we (if we were alredy in OZ) would be really interested in! Obviously there are properties that would suit us and all the users who have slated my comments can now see that we arent lookingfor a palace but just a nice house that needs very little doing if anything other that unloading from the container and sit back and relax with a VB thanks gain for that! |

Some advice though, ditch the VB it is rank, get your laughing gear around some real beer and life will be sweet. :D  |

Still havent seen any evidence of 4 bedroom/2 bathroom on 2 acres 6 mins from the city for $200-$250K though! Oh come now Mrs D....you doubt him? Surely not? :D I am sure there are such properties 6 mins from the CBD of a capital city on Planet Menace...... |

The current median price in my area for those is quoted at $215,000 Homepriceguide Must admit though, when looking on Real Estate.com.au the prices start at $215,000. Houses however have a $360,000 median price. Where is the link for the 2 acre one. ? |

would i be right in saying that they seem to be a long way behind with interior decor with the exception of a few at the higher end price of the market? One thing i can honestly say is that because of the size of properties they are mostly open plan which i really cant fault as back here in the UK you can only have open plan at the higher end house prices due to lack of space m2 that you get for your money. Is this just another difference in lifestyles from the UK and OZ? they work to live and material items dont mean S*** I know i may get slayed for this post but, hey! the missus cant see us living in 99% of these houses which are within our budget and spend a fortune to have them completely overhauled inside to an aceptable standard (to the wife!) Any comments or abuse will be appreciated! i will let her read allllllllllllllll your reply`s  God you lot must be well off :p . Have to agree I can see the point about LOTS of homes in Aus. But have to say my house will one day be back in fashion, original orange wall paper on when we moved in hideous 70's fire places, it's a palace I tell ya :D. Hate renting but won;t buy as don't want hassle of selling when it gets round to it. But have to say my house is horrible but I don't let it bother me, far more things to worry about that fire place looking dated or old kitchen as long as it's tidy then enough said  |

Rates may be bit of a killer :scared: :D While houses under $250k closeish to Brisbane are possible, the cost of fixing them is often why they are being sold, especially ex-rentals. Lets see some of the possible big ticket items (from the ground up) in some of these 'cheapies': Leaking sanitary pipes, Stuffed stumps - steel/concrete/timber, Corroded water supply pipes, Rotted/termite damaged floor/walls/roof framing, Renovate bathroom, Renovate kitchen, Cracked/broken fibro walls and ceilings - A$be$to$ (how much do you love your family?) Roof old galvanised steel or a$be$to$ and corroded gutters, Dont forget the electrical upgrade so you can watch a DVD (home theatre may trip the fuse). Of course there could the rotted fence/s and unapproved building works or side boundary issues. Not an issue if you have the trade skills to do it yourself. If not, you just pay and pay. WW |
