I`m thinking maybe a full overhaul of interior could cost many thousands of $ I tell you what, if i get the opportunity to have the pleasure in purchasing a house around the price that i feel comfortable with then maybe i can give you a call and hand you that couple of Grand to do te decor as long as you aggree to foot the rest to the point of keeping the missus happy Maybe you can even go that bit further and throw me a link to a few houses around the $250K along with some pics that you would happily buy! I've no doubt that people who are building houses now with the latest in jacuzzis, home theatres and stainless steel splashbacks will suffer the same comments about old-fashioned decor when they go to sell in 35 years time. |

I actually agree with the OP, the 'taste' here is very different to UK, and reminiscent of the 1970s. It doesn't mean they are behind here, it just means they have different style.
Seriously, the first time I ever got sent to Oz on a business trip, I had a look on the web at the apartment they were sending me to. OMG :scared: They really like their brown furniture in Oz, was my first thought. http://www.ozhorizons.com.au/vic/mel...and/header.jpg The second thought was, haven't they refurbished that place since 1971? As it turned out, it was a very nice modern apartment, and those brown chairs and brown sofas were apparently very modern stylish and expensive. But it doesn't change the fact I found them very 1970s. And that can be extrapolated to all Aussie decor tastes. Not that I'm one to generalise. :p Any day now flaired trousers will be coming into fashion :D |

But with brown you cant call it brown!! its latte, expresso, manhattan, but never brown. Forget flares :D , Shag pile carpet has just made a comeback, I am being serious its up there with home theatres you must do shag pile darling preferably in latte (brown) or aspen almond :eek: (cream). |

I'm Scottish and my User Name isn't Scottish and I actually write in reasonable English.Gaelic is a totally different language again. Scots is actually recognised as a separate equal language to English not just a "lower class" form of English dialect like the Poms think it is. In fact on the BBC website it states that the Scandanavian languages are more similar to one another than English and Scots are to one another. I find that despite being well educated and living in Oz there are many words that have no translation into English which I still use such as "shoogly", "slitter","peely wally","fair scunnert","stour". Where is Yeppoon by the way? I thought it was beside yer knife and fork but my geography might be wrong! |
