the point i was trying to get two is its horses for courses
I i would live in London for any one but a friend loves the place
We all like different things and to say somewhere is boring is a personal point of view.
so "How does Brissy compare to Adelaide??" its all down to personal preference
the only way you can compare is to go yourself and find out because as much as we all say what one place or another is it will be from there/our own perspective.
One point is we all must feel Australia whatever the city is better than where we are now

Any excuse for a bevvy LOL
Careful what invites you pass round, theres some right nutters on here you know :scared:
We live in Melbourne. Saw most of Aus before we decided where to put down roots. Had a pretty up and down time, especially at the mo, but it feels like home here now

Weve been living in Adelaide for 1 year now, and although we do generally like , we do find it a bit boring. There are pubs n clubs but just no atmosphere in the city ( no hustle n bustle). Even on a Friday night, theres hardly anyone out n about ( which i can understand in the burbs.. but not city centre ?) Adelaide was great in March hosting the festival, fringe, Clipsal etc.. but as that was everything crammed into 1 month, thats your wack til next year
..
There isnt a lot of shoppin, there are a couple of big malls, but certainly not much in the CBD. The city itself is rather small.. with only 1 tall building so isnt exactly a metropolis. I find employment rather restricting, who you know.. not what
The beaches are nice but not "wow" that i have seen elsewhere, and only 2x of them have the trendy cafes, bars etc.. most have an icecream kiosk n thats that. The major plus about living here tho is that we have a 1/4 acre plot nice 3x bed 30 mins from city & 15 mins from beach...
I luv Melbourne, but the colder weather is a no no and im sure we wouldnt be able to afford anywhere near what we have now. Perth is very nice i thought, beaches were fab, but its just not for us at the moment, we like our frequent last minute city breaks, and the distance & cost is a no no for that.
I dont mean it to sound all doom n gloom, but these are the things i am struggling with at the moment, we dont wanna go out partying every weekend, but it is nice to know that you can "when" you want.. if you can understand what im waffling about
Brisbane is next for us to check out...so was wondering how Brisbane compares? I was not impressed with the summer weather here at all.. so i know that Brissie gets hot.. but humid. How far away is the gold coast from the southern suburbs? Can you have a decent city/beach commute...
Thanks

We visited all the main 5 cities including Adelaide when we first arrived in Oz last September and to us Adelaide is an easy city to settle into if u r new here but it is isolated and small, so we can understand people out growing the place as time goes on.
We decided to stay in QLD because we wanted good weather all year round and altho Brissie is the big city we love being on the Gold coast near the wonderful beaches, the hinterland and the shops. theres such a fun relaxed way of life here, and people r moving here from different parts of Oz so its expanding a lot and is a popular choice of place to live.
Quite a number of people commute from the Gold Coast to brissie for work and it can take as much as 1-1 1/2 hours to get to brissie for work
so if u want to be near the best beaches consider looking at the GC as a place to live. we have made so many friends here, yes its humid for a part of the year but this is only for part of the year and IMO better than being isolated/bored.We can get a cheap flight to sydney in 1 hour, and melbourne is quite affordable too, theres lots to do if u travel by car north/south and theres also brissie nearby too.
All the best with your decision!!
Sherie
