How disgusting are Aussie sweets?

I went to Coles to get a few bits of shopping, I went to the lollies aisle and to my disappointment found they had sold out of violets crumble. It is on special this week. Over a dollar off, so grab it while you can.

I do like Violet Crumble Bars. I miss them when I'm not in Australia.

It comes down to many things, one of which is the grass that the cows eat, which in turn provides the milk.
The recipe used is also different, to accommodate the results of tests done in the Australian market, to ensure that the final taste is suitable to the majority here.
So... the bottom line is that Australian and British taste buds are different.
Now... I wonder if they will give me a free tour around the Cadbury factory

Swiss, Belgian, French etc chocolate manufacturers tried to get a ruling from the EU that British chocolate should not be given the title chocolate because the cocoa levels are too low and the milk and non milk fat levels are too high or something like that. They lost their case and it can still be called chocolate in the UK.
I find Cadbury's in both countries pretty insipid (but still edible!) compared to Lindt, Milka, Ritter, Toblerone, Nestle etc but each to their own.

It must come down to individual taste. We Aussies love our Cadbury!
Must say I'm looking forward to trying British Cadbury when I go to England at the end of the year, though

I was brought up on a lot of Swiss chocolate, as my dad worked in Switzerland

Heehee, I fully intend to make a side trip to the Birmingham factory. For, er, research purposes, of course
. Nothing at all to do with my unholy addiction to chocolate

Now..... it's metric equivalent is smaller and they have dropped their famous slogan because it doesn't have the glass and half anymore! Enjoy it nevertheless - 'because you are worth it' to pinch another slogan.
It's interesting from a marketing viewpoint (well I think so anyway
) how chocolate ads target woman and appeal to motives of self-indulgence. 'Why have cotton when you can have silk' is the subtle Masterfoods plea to eat Galaxy/Dove rather than the 'cottony' Cadbury opposition.
'And all because the lady loves Milk Tray' (after the James Bond exploits to get the choccies to the lady).
Do you remember when you had to love someone enough to give them your last Rolo? Well now the ad has changed, it's 'sod them' you have the last one, they're that good - a sign of the times I guess (me, me, me)

I love all the milo products over here, especially the milo bars.
Haven't really found any sweets or chocolates that we don't like yet, maybe that's because I have such a sweet tooth and will eat anything!

Opened the mail this morning to find a letter from pretty much saying the same as you were told about different taste buds etc.
They were extremely apologetic about my dislike for the bar and enclosed a $5 Coles voucher
So im off to Coles to buy $5 worth of Nestle

Then maybe they would have written to me, instead of phoning, with a voucher aswell !!

What no musk sticks?
Haven't seen Jaffas around for ages, wonder if they are still making them. Darrell Lea does something similar but not called Jaffas.
Just read your byline, we were the same as you, me Aussie/British, hubbie British on spouse visa emigrating with 2 young kids. He is just going for his Aussie citizenship ceremony this month. Good luck!

.As for Lindt, Woolworths supermarket sells it in the confectionary aisle, about 5 different types. I always buy it for our tenants as part of their welcome pack. Big W has it as well. Can't remember if Kmart has it or not, next time I go I'll check.
