How clear cut is it

Hi symzie,
I too only had 110 points.
What we did was to have my hubby's skills assessed too ..he is joiner I am nurse..I then could claim 5 points for his skill...extra £200 I know.....but worth it! (better than £40K)....
Just an idea!

Good luck with it, it seems a shame that once you have all that experience in your feild, it doesn't work in your favour. When you say $100,000 investment, do you get it back?
Hy Symzie,
Yes, as others have replied we will get the 100k back after a year, we are looking at it as forced savings, hard but we can just about manage it.
I do think it is a bit harsh that they only take the last three years experience into account, I did have my skills assessment done and that came back positive within two weeks, but just before we were due to lodge our application, our agent landed the bombshell that DIMIA would not even consider my skills because my recent work experience was only 20 months in my field. I took the year out to run a network marketing company and as such, although I did all my own marketing, sales, bookkeeping etc, the agent suggested that he could not fit the experience into any ASCO coding. I still think that they would have looked at my past experience, I did have to provide all the details in my personal declaration, but we can only go by what the EXPERTS tell you!

Thanks everyone for your advice
I'm going try and get the ball rolling, to tell you the truth. I thought I needed a degree. Then I thought I was too old, and had given up on the idea. But you've got my mind buzzing again and I think it's worth a try so I better start soon, I'm 40 in 16 months
Two last questions
1/ As I said, in 16 months I'll be 40 and I'll get less points. In the link posted by Alan it says the processing time in London is 20 months. I take it they take your age as at the time of assessent rather than at the time of application, any advice?
2/ Can anyone recommend a good agent in the London or SE England area
Thanks again

To gain the extra five points we also have to post the 100,000 bond. And we had it saved until the inland revenue came calling. Back to saving up again!!!!

The points for age are based on when your application was lodged, not when 'they' finally get around to assessing your application. So that's good news! Good luck, adelaidegirl
