Default housing in Wellington NZ

We're trying to find out more about housing in Wellington. Perhaps the average price in a nice suburb for 3 bedrooms and a good sized garden.
Also can anyone recommend any suburbs? Preferably with easy access to the city.

thanks!

All dependent on your budget. Newlands, is a nice suburb, but slightly isolated away from the city centre. Normally for moderate income housing.

However the "Knightsbridge" of Wellington, is certainly Oriental Bay, the most affluent area by far. This is not meant to sound snobbish, but Newtown has had trouble with gangs in recent years and you would probably wish to avoid it. Karori aslo has a great village atmosphere to it.

Hope that helps. When are you going? Got your PR yet?

We're off to Wellington in SEptember all things going well. Unfortunately didn't visit earlier this year. However prices seem okay with $150k for a small wooden hoouse to $500k for a dream home. Unfortunately most houses do not give prices. Plan to buy the cheap house and build a house on a plot.

Realenz is a really good site. I am planning to order the local paper which should be chocker with houses etc - just e-mailed [email protected] for ordering information. Need to buy a map too - www.mapcentre.co.nz

If you do a search on Wellington on the web site there are some good bits of advice on nice areas.

Does anyone know where Wellington Hospital is?
